The Lost Dogs’ Home has been providing care for lost, stray, injured and abandoned dogs since 1910.
In 1986, the Home first started providing shelter and adoption services for cats. Now, more than 20 years on, The Lost Dogs’ Home takes in more cats than dogs, approximately 11,000 cats every year, and has begun plans to build a new state of the art Cat Shelter.
Cat flu is an ever present concern in Cat Shelters as it is highly transferable between cats. One of the things that aggravates cat flu is a stressful environment, which is why the Home is dedicated to providing a quiet and peaceful environment for cats being sheltered at The Lost Dogs’ Home. Our current Cat Shelter is in need of upgrading and is located in close proximity to the dog pens.
The Lost Dogs’ Home has been working with Kennel Solutions to plan a new Cat Shelter which will be outfitted with Kennel Solutions Cat Condos that contain state-of-the-art ventilation systems which will not only keep a constant temperature, but prevent the spread of potentially fatal cat flu.
This project is one of the most significant in the Home’s history, when completed the entire new Cat Shelter facility will cost a total of $1.15 million and will drastically improve the level of care The Lost Dogs’ Home will be able to provide stray, abandoned and injured cats.
The Home will be appealing to the public for donations towards this important new facility, if you would like to make a contribution or want to find out more please visit www.catcondos.com.au.
